Ivanti announces double acquisition

Three US security firms have announced they are combining.

IT and Security Operations company Ivanti, based in Salt Lake City, Utah, is set to acquire Mountain View (CA) based MobileIron in an $872 million deal, and and San Jose (CA) based Pulse Secure for undisclosed terms.

MobileIron provides a mobile-centric unified endpoint management solution that provides security for the Work Anywhere enterprise using a zero trust approach. Pulse Secure provides software-driven secure access solutions for people, devices, Things and services.

Ivanti says the acquisitions will secure its position in unified endpoint management. It will now be able to provide a discovery, management and security service across all device types with the Ivanti Neurons hyper-automation platform.

“By combining MobileIron and Pulse Secure with Ivanti, we are creating a leader in the large and growing unified endpoint management, security, and enterprise service management markets,” said Ivanti chairman and CEO Jim Schaper, who will lead the combined company post-acquisition. “We now have the most comprehensive set of software solutions that address the growing market demand for the future of work, where working from anywhere on any device type is the new normal.”

In August 2020, Ivanti, a portfolio company of Clearlake, announced a new strategic investment from TA Associates. This investment, along with new capital from Clearlake, will be used to accelerate Ivanti’s growth. Clearlake and TA partnered to fund the strategic acquisitions.
