Uruguayians can finally take their numbers with them

Mobile number portability has finally gone live in Uruguay after months of delays. Customers can now keep their number when switching to another service provider, with numbers ported within three days.  

The cost of porting must be carried by the service providers, with the facility provided free to customers. However, customers may only port a maximum of three times each year.  

The facility will initially be supported by Cleartech-Cietel for the first five years.
