B2B service provider B4B Telecoms has acquired a Belfast-based B2B reseller Fenix Solutions for an undisclosed sum – the company’s third small acquisition in four years – as it seeks to grow both organically and inorganically.
B4B provides communications solutions to businesses and public bodies across Ireland and the rest of the UK (where 20% of its business customers are based). It has rolled out a full fibre network to over 30 business parks and centres across Northern Ireland, and built out a national broadband network and VoIP platform. It is also part of a JV called Fibrus, along with entrepreneur Conal Henry (who previously led enet). Fibrus will use B4B’s existing fibre network and invest more than £90 million over five years to build out fibre to business and residential premises.
In January 2019 the company announced its first foray into the consumer space, working with Dream Apartments to connect large multi-dwelling units including Obel Apartments, St Thomas Hall Apartments and Sanford Apartments.
The fixed connectivity market in Northern Ireland is currently concentrated in the hands of Openreach and Virgin Media, providing a market entry window for alternative providers. B4B seems intent on grasping this opportunity with a mixture of strategies to expand its position and a firm focus on Northern Ireland’s business market.
