Verizon Enterprise launches SD-WAN solution based on Versa

Verizon has launched a new SD-WAN service based on technology from Versa Networks. The service – Software Defined Secure Branch solution – is designed for small and medium-sized businesses that are spread over multiple locations, state and local government and educational institutions.
Verizon has also busted a common SD-WAN myth, commenting that its SD-WAN has increased sales of its MPLS offering. It says its enterprise customers maintain MPLS for applications that require security, stability and low latency. The company says it is seeing a lot of customers using MPLS plus LTE.
Verizon is using Cisco’s IWAN and Viptela offerings for SD-WAN deployments with large enterprise customers, and Versa for SMEs and retailers. The company does not rule out partnering even wider if vendors have technology its customers require, or a specialism in a particular niche.
