BICS adds support for private network connectivity for IoT solution

BICS has announced it has added private mobile network support to its SIM for Things solution. This removes barriers to the adoption of private mobile networks by enabling seamless connectivity on a single SIM. Previously, enterprise customers using private networks required two SIMs to enable them to connect to both private networks and external operator networks. Now they will only need a single SIM, reducing both complexity and cost.

The SIM for Things solution comprises a physical and virtual SIM card, equipped with self-management capabilities and real-time Quality of Service data analytics. The new solution provides seamless and borderless connectivity across 2G, 3G, 4G/LTE, 5G, LTE-M and NB-IoT. Enterprises will have access to more than 700 mobile networks in 200 countries, enabling them to switch between public and private network connectivity to ensure the quality of coverage they need.

This initiative will enable system integrators, OEMs, and hardware manufacturers to more easily innovate new capabilities for connected devices that function on both private and public networks. The data generated by connected devices will remain private even when the device is on a public network, being securely transported back to the private network datacentre via BICS’s global Private IPX & Cloud Connect solution.
