Cybersecurity update: Indra acquires SIA

Combination of assets creates a EUR60 million security firm

Indra has acquired SIA, a cybersecurity specialist in Spain and Portugal, and merged it with its own cybersecurity capabilities to create a company that has products and services covering ID and access management, electronic signatures, integrated risk management, security infrastructure, threat and vulnerability management, and data protection.
Indra is a leading provider of technology and consulting to the transport and defence markets, as well as a leading provider of digital transformation services in Spain and Latin America through its affiliate, Minsait. In FY2018 it had revenues of EUR3.104 billion, 43,000 employees, a local presence in 46 countries, and business operations in over 140 countries.
The new company now has combined revenues of EUR60 million, 1,000 specialist employees, as well as a diversified and stable customer base, with leadership in the ID and electronic signature solutions market in Spain and Portugal.

Electronic signatures (eSign)

The combined company will provide solutions and cloud services for electronic signatures and the legal certification of signed documents, with the opportunity to market SIA’s products in new regions (Mexico, Colombia and Italy, among others) by using Indra’s platform and experience.

Integrated risk management

The company will combine Indra’s business consultancy and SIA’s risk management to create a value proposition capable of competing with global consultancy companies.

Threat and vulnerability management

In this sector, Indra’s technology management services will accelerate SIA’s international expansion plans. For example, the company will benefit from the combination of Indra’s anomaly identification platform and SIA’s fraud operation service to identify fraudulent activity (which can be applied to PSD2, the European regulation on electronic payment services).
“The integration of SIA and Indra’s cybersecurity business creates a specialized leader in this market, with a wide-ranging and integrated offering and a global presence that enables it to respond to global threats,” commented Cristina Ruiz, Executive Director of Indra and IT business Senior Vice President.
