Sky Brasil leaps to Connect thanks to Technicolor Connected Home

Launches new voice-enabled connected home service based on ad

Sky Brasil is deploying Sky Connect, using an STB from Technicolor Connected Home that integrates Google Assistant far-field voice technology. The new service will allow subscribers to navigate entertainment content on their TVs and is the latest development in the 15-year relationship between Technicolor Connected Home and Sky Brasil.

Sky Brasil’s Andre Ribeiro said the new Sky Connect STB will enable Brazilian subscribers to enjoy an integrated digital home experience. He explained that his company chose an Android TV platform as it provided subscribers with access to the latest entertainment, content and gaming applications.

“ The Sky Connect STB provides subscribers with access to more integrated digital experiences that are supported and backed by Sky Brasil’s renowned customer service.”

Brian Jentz, VP of the Video Product Unit at Technicolor, said that the launch of Sky Connect in Brasil, based on his company’s advanced STB, was a “giant step forward” for Brazilian subscribers, enabling them to switch channels and choose their favourite movies, games, music and other information resources without the need for a remote control. He added that this would be “the most integrated Android TV STB in the market”, as it supports both satellite and IPTV broadcast, a full suite of OTT content, and a wide array of broadband access technologies.

“This advanced generation of STBs represents a break with the proprietary single-function nature of CPE in the past. Sky Connect is a new multifunctional device that accommodates a full range of digital experiences – such as viewing in high dynamic range (HDR) during live events.”
