Deutsche Glasfaser upgrades CPE

New router will support WiFi 6E and add CCAPS capabilities from Plume including WiFi optimisation, cybersecurity and user controls

Deutsche Glasfaser has announced it is upgrading its CPE to a Sagemcom WiFi 6E router, incorporating Plume’s Consumer Experience Management Platform and HomePass Smart Home Services suite. The combined solution will be marketed as the DG WLAN Plus router from July 2022.

Ruben Queimano, CCO, Deutsche Glasfaser

“Other providers are only just introducing Wi-Fi 6 technology, but we’re going the extra mile for our customers and are already using next-generation Wi-Fi 6E technology,” Ruben Queimano, CCO of Deutsche Glasfaser explained. “With its extended frequency range, our DG WLAN Plus Router offers significantly faster WiFi communication between the router, repeater and connected device. By leveraging the cloud and AI, the system intelligently optimises the flow of data to all devices, allocating the right frequencies for an optimal user experience. This ensures reliable, rapid fibre-optic speeds for a large number of connected devices simultaneously.”

The new router will provide more stable, simultaneous use of multiple connected devices with optimal reception in every room. The router will utilise Plume’s technology to manage service conflicts, prevent congestion in the home network and optimise the experience for multiple users and connected devices. The DG WLAN Plus amplifier will ensure the home LAN is optimised throughout the entire house, working intelligently with the router to provide the strongest signal to each connected device.

Bill McFarland, CTO, Plume

Plume’s HomePass Smart Home Services will provide additional services to Deutsche Glasfaser’s customers including cybersecurity protection for all connected devices on the network, guest access and controls, and parental controls.

Bill McFarland, CTO, Plume said: “Sophisticated management is required for WiFi 6E’s capabilities to be a benefit, not a burden. Those service providers who embrace the need for cloud- and AI-based management will reap the benefits as the dynamic transition to 6 GHz accelerates.”
