Chris Egan, CEO Evolution Digital

“By joining together with Plume, we are now able to bring Plume’s best-in-class whole-home Wi-Fi software to operators allowing seamless, reliable, user-optimized and intelligent tools that broadband subscribers expect in 2021 and beyond,” commented Chris Egan, CEO at Evolution Digital. Egan says his company will deliver vital support services to cable operators wishing to adopt Plume’s offering, including training, field trials, testing, engineering, deployment, product roadmap and release timing, programme management, technical support, and marketing & promotions collaboration.

Evolution Digital’s hardware devices that will support OpenSync, an open source framework that provides out-of-the-box access to Plume’s services, include:

  • EVO6700AP WiFi 6 AP Router (June 2021)
  • EVO6500EXT WiFi 6 Mesh Beacon (June 2021)
  • EVO3000GW WiFi 5 DOCSIS 3.1 Gateway (July 2021)

Omnisperience’s View

This is an interesting new partnership. Most CCAPS have come from a fixed broadband part of the market. As the offering evolves, it needs to extend to cable and mobile broadband providers in order to ensure all households and customers are covered. This partnership opens up CCAPS to cable operators in North and South America, providing a market-ready solution for faster adoption.
